What does Gold Filled mean?
Gold Filled jewellery is less expensive than solid gold jewellery, but it is tarnish resistant and will last for 10 to 30 years - looking shiny and new even with decades of wear.
How is it made?
Gold Filled jewellery is composed of a solid layer of gold that is bonded to a base of another metal, like sterling silver or copper.
Is Gold Filled the same as Gold Plated?
Gold Filled jewellery has more gold alloy than Gold Plated and because that layer is thicker, it means Gold Filled jewellery lasts longer than Gold Plated. This is why our Gold Filled pieces tend to be a little higher in price than our Gold Plated items.
